Hi Friends!

Do you want to know what I adore about winter? It's the magical feeling that comes with it, like being in a fairy tale where everything is covered in a blanket of snow. The snowflakes twirl and dance in the air, and the world transforms into a winter wonderland. It's the perfect time to plan an escape, whether you want to cozy up by the fire in a log cabin or bask in the sun on a beach, beech!

Skiing and Snowboarding:

Ski Mountains usually offer beginner lessons and rental equipment, so no matter your skill level, skiing, and snowboarding can be enjoyed in the beautiful winter scenery while getting exercise!

Ice Skating:

Ice skating is a classic winter activity that is perfect for all ages and a great way to spend time with loved ones. Some ice rinks even offer special events like ice shows and ice discos, adding to the fun and excitement.

Spa Day:

A more relaxed winter activity is a spa day, and many hotels and resorts offer spa packages with massages, facials, and other treatments, perfect for unwinding after a busy holiday season!

Winter Destinations:

When planning a winter getaway, the destination can make or break your vacation, so consider your interests, budget, and preferred weather conditions to ensure an unforgettable and enjoyable experience.

If you're a winter sports enthusiast, check out destinations like Mont-Sainte-Anne, just outside Quebec City, Aspen, Colorado, or anywhere in New Hampshire for their unparalleled skiing and snowboarding opportunities, as well as other winter activities like ice skating, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.

Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec: Le Château Frontenac

Winter escapes are the perfect way to shake off the monotony of daily life and create lasting memories. And what better place to indulge in a winter getaway than the iconic Le Château Frontenac, nestled just outside Quebec City? This stunning architectural masterpiece is a hotel and a historic landmark that has played a significant role in my family's story.

The story goes that my entrepreneurial grandmother (she was the first woman in her city to own an automobile!), who sadly passed away before my birth, had her path crossed with my Papa’s outside of this majestic establishment (after securing her title as a badass, also being own of the few people at the time to swim across the Saint Lawrence River, known worldwide for its strong currents!). My mom told me their love story began while ice-skating at the Le Château Frontenac, making it a special place in my family history.

During my family trip to Quebec around the age of 12, I got a miniature souvenir of the Château Frontenac, which I still cherish. It carries the weight of my family's history and the love story that began in Quebec all those years ago. Looking at this mini-version of the hotel, I feel a deep connection to my roots and a sense of warmth from my grandparents watching over me.

Winter escapes to Le Château Frontenac are a perfect way to create new memories. Spend your days skiing or snowshoeing, then return to the hotel for a cozy night in front of a roaring fire!

Rediscovering Steele Hill Resort: Sanborton, New Hampshire

Winter escapes can be the perfect way to recharge your batteries and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And what better way to do this than by retreating the mountains?

For my family, our usual winter cabin stays around North Conway were found on Craigslist, a far cry from our current options on Airbnb. However, we decided to switch things up one winter and booked a stay at Steele Hill Resort. It was a new and luxurious experience that added a touch of pizzazz to our usual mountain escapades.

Years later, my then-boyfriend, now-fiance, planned an anniversary getaway, and he chose Steele Hill again without knowing I had been there as a kid. It was a happy coincidence because we had such an incredible experience during our stay together. When we came home, and I was raving about it, my Dad reminded me and showed me pictures from my childhood!

This time, Jon and I’s room featured an in-room jacuzzi, and as hot tub enthusiasts, we couldn't resist soaking in warm bubbles while surrounded by the beauty of the New Hampshire mountains outside our windows.

Steele Hill went above and beyond our expectations, treating us to not one but two indoor pools and two outdoor pools. The indoor pool on our side of the resort was incredible, with islands and waterslides, all under a glass atrium that allows you to enjoy the stunning mountain views without braving the chilly weather outside if you visit during winter!

Whether traveling with family or as a couple, the resort offers something for everyone. As a family, we loved the range of activities on the property, such as gaming areas and a recreation room with ping-pong tables. But as a couple, my partner and I couldn't help but notice the romantic atmosphere of the resort.

Steele Hill Resort's real star is its breathtaking views, though. The resort overlooks Lake Winnipesaukee and Winnisquam, framed by the Belknap and White Mountains. It's a winter wonderland that offers a dreamy setting for a wedding!

Steele Hill Resort encapsulates the essence of New Hampshire's Lakes Region, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and natural beauty. Whether seeking a family-friendly retreat, a cozy romantic escape, or even contemplating it as a wedding venue, Steele Hill Resort offers something genuinely enchanting!

Orlando: Hilton Tuscany Village

As much as we love the winter season, sometimes it can be a bit too chilly for our liking. That's why we recently took a trip to the Hilton Tuscany Village in Orlando, Florida, to escape the winter blues and soak up some sun.

This resort did not disappoint. We were so in love with the resort's aesthetic that we couldn't help but share it on our Instagram stories, and our friends were convinced we were vacationing in Mexico. It just goes to show that a well-designed resort can transport you to a whole new world and make you forget about the winter cold. It was a much-needed escape that we won't soon forget! The resort is nothing short of stunning. Our balcony provided a view of the secondary heated pool area and hot tub – my preferred hangout spot during the stay. I can't even begin to describe how amazing it felt to relax in the hot tub with the mild Orlando winter breeze.

Winter escapes are a perfect opportunity to unwind and recharge your batteries. And what better way to do that than indulging in a relaxing spa day? The spa's serene ambiance, combined with the skillful hands of the masseuse, will make you forget all your worries.

The resort's well-equipped fitness center is perfect for fitness enthusiasts who want to maintain their routine while on vacation.

The resort's two beautiful pool areas offer ample opportunities to soak up the Florida sun. I enjoyed lounging by the larger pool, sipping on a refreshing drink from the adorable pool bar. It felt like a scene from a Jimmy Buffet music video, with an added touch of luxury.

The resort's wooden bridge over its picturesque pond was a perfect setting for romantic evening strolls and a couple of pictures. The resort's being so close to the airport also made our travel experience hassle-free!

Of course, no vacation is complete without indulging in some delicious food. My fiance Jon and I decided to treat ourselves to classic burgers, fries, and a flatbread pizza while washing it down with a refreshing hurricane at the pool bar.

And ooh! The little lizards!

Strategically located next to Orlando's Shopping Outlets, the resort caters to shoppers, providing a treasure trove of retail therapy opportunities. And that's not all— our visit to nearby Universal Studios became a highlight of the trip, with Voodoo Donuts adding a sugary indulgence to our Orlando adventure!

Practical Tips:

Cold Weather:

  • Waterproof and insulated boots are a must to keep your feet dry and warm.

  • Tuck hand warmers into your pockets for an added boost of warmth during chilly days.

  • Cold weather can deplete electronic device batteries faster, so make sure you have a portable charger to keep your devices powered.

  • Invest in warm, moisture-wicking socks to keep your feet comfortable and dry.

Warm Weather:

  • Pack lightweight, breathable clothes suitable for warm weather. Choose fabrics that allow your skin to breathe while protecting you from the sun.

  • Carry a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, and pack a cooling towel to stay refreshed in hot climates.

  • Stay comfortable in the heat with moisture-wicking underwear, and pack a light jacket or shawl for cooler evenings.

General Tips:

  • Regardless of your destination, it's important to research local customs and understand the local culture to make the most of your winter escape.

  • Plan your itinerary with potential delays, and carry necessary medications for colds or allergies.

  • Consider investing in travel insurance to cover unexpected situations, make copies of important documents, and have a backup credit card.

  • Finally, stay flexible and open to changes in your itinerary due to weather or other factors. Flexibility turns unexpected situations into new and exciting opportunities.
